The Ghost Stories of M R James, performed by R M Lloyd Parry
Over a century after their first publication the ghost stories of M R James still have the power to terrify and amuse. Now Nunkie Theatre Company bring four of the eeriest and most entertaining back to life in two gripping one-man shows.
In the classic spinechiller Count Magnus, a travel-writer’s over-inquisitiveness leads to a breathless, diabolical chase from darkest Sweden to rural Essex. Denmark is the setting for Number 13, where a hotel room with the famously unlucky number, conceals a ghastly and baffling secret.
Friday 18 and Saturday 19 @ 7pm. Sunday 20th @ 6pm.
A Warning to the Curious
Lost Hearts, one of the first stories James wrote, presents us with one of his most memorable villains, the predatory scholar Mr Abney. It is paired here with one of M R James’ most poignant works: A Warning to the Curious, in which an archaeologist is haunted and hunted by the guardian of an ancient treasure.
Friday 18th and Saturday 19th @ 9pm, Sunday 20th @ 8pm.
