Chicks Unravel Time is the sister book to the 2011 Hugo Award-winning Chicks Dig Time Lords and features a host of award-winning female writers, media professionals and scientists, examining each season of new and classic Doctor Who from their unique perspectives. Doctor Who day in Blackwell’s Charing Cross Road We are delighted to announce an event celebrating the amazing series, Doctor Who. If you’ve got withdrawal after the first part of the new series and are waiting for the Christmas special, what better way to fill in the gap than with a series of events at Blackwell’s? The day will kick off at 2pm with a talk by James Goss and Steve Tribe about their new book, Doctor Who: A History of the Universe in 100 Objects. From ancient urns and medieval flasks to sonic screwdrivers and glass Daleks, these 100 objects tell the story of the entire universe, and the most important man in it: the Doctor. Each item has a unique tale of its own, whether it’s a fob watch at the onset of the Great War or a carrot growing on the first human colony on Mars. Taken together, they tell of empires rising and falling, wars won and lost, and planets destroyed and reborn. Then at 3.30pm, we will be hosting a panel of writers who will talk about what it’s like to write episodes and novelisations for the longest-running sci fi series in the world. The panel includes Joseph Lidster, Mark Morris and Simon Guerrier, who between them have written novels, audiobooks and episodes as well as their own new works. The talk will last around an hour, followed by a book signing. The afternoon with conclude with an epic Doctor Who quiz at 5pm. There will be an exciting prize for the person who can demonstrate the greatest knowledge of Doctor Who, both in it’s recent form and the classic series.
