Jay & I had gotten a bit behind on graphic novel reviewing, but you'll see those starting to pop up the site with more regularity now  Smiley

More writing and comics news...

As well as appearing in Alt Zombie, I will also have short stories appearing in The Terror Scribes Anthology and in one of the forthcoming horror anthologies from Stumar Press. More info in this blog post http://girlycomic.livejournal.com/162283.html

I am about to go on a YA binge as I just bought a load in the scholastic £1 a book sale.

Where is this mythical sale?

Sorry, looks like it ended at midnight last night, but it was through their warehouse sale site, which seems to have them every so often: http://www5.scholastic.co.uk/static/warehouse/online.html

Just finished Jonathan Oliver's House of Fear anthology and Angela Slater's 'The Girl with No Hands' - both really good; but now I'm reading the brilliant Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch.

Really enjoyed Rivers of London & Moon Over Soho. Looking forward to the 3rd book later in the year.

I seem to be partway through a load of books at the minute, but I'm really enjoying The Steel Seraglio by Mike, Lin & Louise Carey from ChiZine Press.

Inspired by the format and setting of The Arabian Nights it has tales within tales, all woven around the central plot of how 300 odd concubines go from about to be executed in the desert to taking over a city.

Hello Selina,

Yes - it is the original screenplay that is considered and that has to be in the English language.

Sarah

Thanks for the clarification Sarah.

Thanks Sarah. I assume it will be as Stephen says but wanted to make sure.
14  Welcome / Introductions / Re: Hello there on: February 12, 2012, 08:29:07 PM
Membership secretary Marion Pitman got back to me to say that due to the committee changes before Christmas and the large numbers of people joining/rejoining in the last few months the email acknowledgements, and new member mailings have become very delayed.

She hopes they will be back on track with them soon.
15  Welcome / Introductions / Re: Hello there on: February 12, 2012, 01:36:25 PM
Welcome Liam & Stewart.

I've sent an email to the membership secretary to ask about membership acknowledgement emails after joining using Paypal, as we've had a couple of friends from other fandoms join recently and contact us (as known BFS members) to ask if it was normal not to receive any welcome emails etc.
