Good news for all those of you who attended last year's inaugural "Space, Time, Machine & Monster" event at Glamorgan University.  I've just heard from the Welsh National Literature Promotion Agency that another event is on the cards for 2009.  Dates and speakers have yet to be confirmed, but if it's anything like last year's, it'll be worth the trip.

The BFS had quite a presence (albeit indirectly), with the likes of Tim Lebbon, Gary Greenwood, Stephen Volk and Steve Lockley in attendance.  Jasper Fforde and Andrew Cartmel were also there, and proved to be big crowd pleasers.

The organisers managed to cram the day full with a great variety of panels, film shows and talks, and attendance was pretty good, with a healthy cross-section of South Wales society stepping in out of the cold.

One point worthy of note - the London Sci-Fi convention got a lot of publicity there.  Maybe we could do something similar for the BFS/FantasyCon at this year's event?

More news as and when I get it.

Helen and I were also in attendance and I was interviewed by the Welsh BBC reporter, as where many on the day at last years event.

There were on the tables manned by Chris and Steve, who asked me for advert to place in the Doorways book that was produced specially for the event...

...not bad considering the BFS budget for the event was zilch.

Oh, that's very good news!  Is there any idea of a date yet?

None yet, but they're looking at dates a little later in the year.  (Last year's was held in June).

Thanks!  It was such a good day last year, that I don't want to miss this one.

I agree about publicity for the BFS/FCon.

Thanks, Martin.  I hadn't realised so much was done!  Perhaps it would still be worth trying to organise some sort of official BFS presence at this year's event however - the only reason I'm a BFS member now, and attended FantasyCon last year, is because Tim Lebbon encouraged me to join when I bumped into him after his talk at S,T,M & M.  So imagine what an official stand/table or even talk/seminar could do!
