Hi,

I've seen the date and venue for the Open Night in December, I just wondered what to expect? Is it just a gathering over a few drinks or do you have a programme? I'm planning to come along, but will be on my own, so would find it less daunting if I have an idea beforehand!

Thanks,

Sandra

The last couple of Open Nights have been special events - a PS Publishing launch and a Torchwood evening - and Guy and Martin do like to have something going on at them, but nothing's been announced yet for this one.

So, who is going? Just booked my hotel and train fare... hope to catch up on some FCon gossip - oh, and drink a Guinness or two.

Hi I'm planning to go too. Any one know a good / cheap hotel or B and B nearby?

Looking through the thread for last year's event, there's a comment on hotels here, recommending those on Gower Street.

Will keep trying

The next ON is only days away... if anyone has questions its easier to contact me direct at events@britishfantasysociety.org

Traditionally the December ON is more of a social gathering, a last knees up before the holidays - however to aid in our celebrations we plan to help Rob Shearman launch his new collection Love Songs for the Shy and Cynical.

Paul Kane and Marie O'Regan should be on hand for the UK  launch of their anthology Hellbound Hearts featuring stories set in the world created by Clive Barker. Rumour has it that a mysterious puzzle box may be solved on the night, thus summoning a cenobite or two...

...I was in discussion with a publisher to launch Robert Englund's biography, with the man himself on hand to sign copies of the book etc.

Sadly his promotional tour for the book was cancelled.

As usual there will be unique prizes for those who make it to the event and purchase a book on the evening.

Finding hotels is always a gamble - we tend to try and find the cheapest, as close to the venue as possible - always great fun dragging two suitcase full of books around London.  Sometimes we get lucky, a few times not so -  Helen & I are at the County this time, which is part of Imperial London Hotels. We stayed at The Tavistock before, which was quite good for a budget hotel.

Any photos?

I managed to get to the Poe event in January but couldn't get down to this one.
