Hello folks!
(And thanks Ally for the invitation. I owe you a pint.)

I’m Matt, and I mainly write horror, fantasy and SF.

My recent publications include “The Brahmapur Buccaneer” in Skulls and Crossbones, and “The Plague of Gentlemen” - a gruesome P.G. Wodehouse tribute - in Dark Jesters: An Anthology of Humorous Horror.

I have tales forthcoming in Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, Necrotic Tissue and the Terrible Beauty, Fearful Symmetry anthology.

I review genre fiction at my website, the cheesily-titled Hellforge, and will also soon be reviewing for Hub magazine.

Pop in to the Hellforge here: www.matthewfryer.com

Cheers!

(Matthew finds writing about himself in the third person rather jarring, so this bio made a pleasant change)

My inbox has been very nice to me this last week, and I've a couple of short story sales to announce.

Both humorous speculative/fantasy, Scars will be appearing in Space and Time magazine, and Psi-Mage for Hire in Bards and Sages Quarterly.
Woo-hoo!

And I only just joined the BFS a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps the society has unearthly forces at work Grin

Thanks Ally and Stephen.

The latest issue of Necrotic Tissue also contains my story "The Bunker".

It's a really nice little book; I was well chuffed when it arrived.

For the month of April, Living After Midnight is now available for 99 cents, or 71 pence, on Amazon and Smashwords. Links above.

Also, the Severed Press anthology Dead Bait 2 containing my story “Ternskull Point” is now available. I haven’t read it yet, but I’m somewhat humbled by the list of fellow contributors.

It contains stories by Ramsey Campbell, Guy N. Smith, Steve Alten, Tim Curran, Cody Goodfellow, Murphy Edwards, James Robert Smith, Anthony Wedd, Paul Freeman, Raleigh Dougal, James Harris and Michael Hodges.

Here’s the blurb…

“We’re gonna need a bigger boat!  Following on from the abomination that was Dead Bait, Severed Press bring you more horror tales of the deep including a haunted ice fishing trip, viscious mer-monkeys, sickening shark attacks, deranged walruses and many more terrors from beneath the surface.”

The deranged walruses might have been my fault. Hehe.

Thanks, Jim!

The latest, and sadly final Necrotic Tissue horror magazine is now available. It contains my story “The Narcslaag” which was chosen as editor’s pick for issue #14: an unpleasant tale set in the Red Light District of Amsterdam.

There is also new fiction from Fran Friel, Angel McCoy, M.P. Johnson, Robert Essig, Damien Walters Grintalis and many others. And I love Patrick McWhorter’s vicious and feral Easter bunny on the cover.

It’s available direct from http://www.necrotictissue.com/ and the usual places like Amazon.

I’m very sad to see it go, this being my third publication with NT. Cheers to the editor R. Scott McCoy for creating a quality, paying magazine and persevering for as long as he did in such a tough market. Fortunately, his Stygian Publications is going to continue with the occasional release, one of which will be a Best of Necrotic Tissue anthology in which “The Narcslaag” will also feature.

Thanks!

The latest issue of Murky Depths contains my story "Honest Harry's Budget Boneyard", a darkly humorous tale about the goings on in the premises of a zombie slave trader. It's also the story that inspired the fantastic cover art by Martin Baines, and he's done a top job of realising the anti-hero in his lair.

It can be ordered here:
http://www.murkydepths.com/

In other writing news, my story "The Plague of Gentlemen" will be appearing in Full Fathom Forty, an anthology celebrating 40 years of the British Fantasy Society, and being released at Fantasycon 2011 in Brighton next weekend. Also, my new pan-esque horror tale "The Wager" has been accepted for publication in Night Terrors II, an anthology to be released around Christmas by Blood Bound books.
