I'm Willie, a Scottish author and lapsed BFS member (I need to do something about that soon) and I know a lot of you here already

I've had nine novels and over 150 short stories published in the genre press. They're mostly set in Scotland, but there'll be a few with Canadian settings

Watchers is a dark fantasy trilogy, set in 1745 Scotland with a vamp Bonnie Prince Charlie, vampire highlander armies, and incidental werewolves and zombies...

For something different, My Midnight Eye Files series is about a PI in Glasgow who gets involved with the occult... it's more tongue-in-cheek than the other books. Sirens is Book 2, out now and Book 3:The Skin Game is coming later this year from Black Death Books

I have an ongoing series of short story chapbooks/box sets at http://www.ghostwriterpublications.com and other recent anthology appearances in Gaslight Grotesque (Edge Publishing) and Cthulhu Unbound 2 (Permuted Press).

Most recenly I had a story in issue 10 of Something Wicked magazine in South Africa and my last sale was to the forthcoming hardcover Cthulhu 2012 anthology from Mythos Books. This year I'm trying to target more pro anthologies/publications.

The day started like many another.

I dressed, I made coffee, I sat at my desk trying to magic up a client through the power of my will. All I managed to magic was a headache.

Outside my window rich men played golf; chatting, back-slapping and giving high-fives as they rolled putts across the pristine Eighteenth of St Andrews Old Course.

None of them showed any signs of needing my services.

I was pleased to see that I got an honourable mention in Ellen Datlow's Best
Horror of the Year 2009 anthology for "The Tenants of Ladywell Manor," in
Cthulhu Unbound 2

This antho picked up a few HMs, and is well worth checking out. It's avaliable
in all the usual online sites, as well as being on the shelves of many Barnes
and Noble stores in the States.

The residents of remote outposts in Maritime Canada escaped the worst of the early damage, but that was a blessing in disguise, for they were left to watch as first North America, then the world, was subsumed in the creeping green carpet of terror. And that was just the beginning. New life forms began to arise from the ooze, simple organisms at first, but multiplying with ever increasing complexity. The few human survivors are faced with a full-scale invasion... and only radical measures will guarantee the survival of the human race.

The Chronicles of Augustus Seton

Augustus Seton is a 16th Century Scotsman, a seeker after truth, continually trying to find ways to explain the supernatural events that shaped him. This will lead him down many Fortean alleys, confronting demons and witches, but also getting involved in other manifestations of the weird, from the Grey Man of Ben MacDui, to the Kilbirnie Wyrm and even encounters with the Grim Reaper himself. The four stories in this collection are his first adventures in what I hope will become a long and wild career of monster smiting, demon slaying and general mayhem with a bit of history thrown in.

The Valley

In 1863 a group of mercenaries are hired to help out a mining town in Montana. They arrive to find the town empty and some of the buildings wrecked and strewn over a wide area. A new cave leads them to a land that time forgot, a high valley full of animals that are extinct elsewhere, but have thrived in the remote environment. But something else is loose in the land, something even older that has emerged from the cave system. Soon the remaining men are fighting for their lives, and the lives of everything in the valley.

I've been looking around for anthologies to submit to in recent weeks. I've got subs out to some of the usual suspects -- anthos dedicated to Sherlock Holmes and Lovecraft's Mythos.

But it got me thinking about what other anthos I'd like to write for -- and read, in other writers' universes. So, with tongue only slightly in cheek, this is a call for editors/publishers to get their fingers out and announce submission calls for the following:-

Black Mass - A Dennis Wheatley tribute. Wheatley wasn't the world's greatest writer, but his books filled store shelves before Stephen King came along, and did a lot to mould my liking for supernatural fiction. I'd love to have a go at an old school Satanic romp with his characters.

She Who Must be Obeyed - an H Rider Haggard tribute. I've always wanted to do an Allan Quatermain/Lost civilisation story.

Tarzan Returns - How cool would it be to do a Tarzan story? Well for a lad who grew up on the ERB books, it would be geek heaven.

Challenger - Why not a Professor Challenger antho as opposed to a Holmes one? And Challenger was an Ayrshire man, like me. I've got many ideas just waiting for the right antho :-)

Quatermass - And thinking of Challenger brings me straight to Quatermass, one of my earliest heroes. It's surely time for an antho of British science gone wrong?

Fu-Manchu - I -so- want to write an old school criminal mastermind story

And those are just off the top of my head. I'd also love to write in Moorcock's Eternal Champion Universe, or using Gemmell's Jerusalem Man. There are also many TV show characters I'd love to write stories for, from the X-Files to Dr. Who, from Adam Adamant to Supernatural.

Not a single one of these is likely to happen any time soon and I'm not holding my breath waiting for invitations to submit.

But a boy can dream can't he?

Just agreed a contract for a story in the last Nemonymous anthology, Null Immortalis. I'm especially happy to have it accepted by Des Lewis, as he was one of the reasons I got going in the first place in the small press, and my story is about the turning of cycles, and death and rebirth.
