I think that will be a very interesting panel. Years ago, I was caught up in the events of Dunblane "shootings" as the locals called it, which resulted in 16 dead children and 2 dead adults - one murdered, one committing suicide; and what happened that morning and its aftermath have probably haunted me ever since, with the result that an almost completed story called "Bad Enough" lingers in a folder somewhere, and memories of that day and what I learned in the passing weeks and months still fester away at the back of my head.

Indeed, Ian. I can't imagine not writing about real issues in some of my fiction and yes, it should be an interesting discussion.

The last two members of that panel are Simon Kurt Unsworth and Simon Bestwick!

Sounds like a great line up, and I’ll be there, and hope Gary McMahon is too, given his powerful novella “The Harm” which apart from being a fantastic piece of writing is also really thought-provoking;  and more power to you and Joel for the anthology “Never Again”, and I say that as the father of a daughter called Sophie who dresses in black and has purple hair!
