well .org didn't take me straight to the site - I just had an 'unavailable' notification - so David R has a point. Like David R I knew the site had changed and what it had changed to so I was able to get around that - but others may well just assume the site has gone belly up or is still down from last month if they have .org bookmarked. Just saying

I think the problem is that some people may have the URL from the previous server as the BFS website address -- and that no longer works. Also, I note that some folk are using britishfantasysociety.org.uk You only need the org and not the uk part of the web address. here it is: www.britishfantasysociety.orgBut I agree, we need to get the message out there that the BFS website is back in business, especially since Caroline is posting loads of news.

I wasn't online when all this happened, but wanted to say that I like the new site a lot, Del, and I was really happy that you managed to rescue the content from the old site too.

Thanks Stephen. You gave me a great foundation to build upon. I could not have done it without you and I value your input

Hideous colour scheme on this new template! Tan-colour links & nav for threads etc almost invisible on that ghastly dull grey background. Urgh... I hope it can be changed soon.
Is it any better now? Oh yes, it looks superb. Excellent job!

This is not a problem as such, but I'm confused.
At the top left corner of the website is a link to "Log in".
As far as I can see there's no content which isn't accessible without logging in & there's no link to register for a login/pass in any case, so what's it for?

That'll be for Del and others to log into the website back-end to post news/reviews and do edits etc... That's an informed guess, though, but I have experience of similar on websites based around WordPress and Concrete5.

Yes, Phil's right - it's for me, Del, Peter, etc to log in to post our news, reviews, events and so on. So all content on the website can be seen by anyone - there's no need to log in. It is a bit confusing though - sorry about that!

It is what we like to call Work In Progress There will be the facility to register and login at some (hopefully not too long) point in the future. This will initially for members to let us know of changes in their circumstances, renew membership and basic membership administration. There will also be sync between forum accounts and website accounts, but that is probably phase 2. This will also enable the development of more features and membership services through the website and online. But at the moment that feels like a little while away. Please feel free to chuck ideas at us on what you would like to see on the site (and feel free to volunteer to help). Del.

Most odd new problem, which I've already emailed Del about. I tried to share the link to my latest review on Facebook. Now the link works fine. http://www.britishfantasysociety.co.uk/reviews/bite-sized-horror-edited-by-johnny-mains-book-review/If you click on it, it goes to the review, but every time I try to share it, whether by clicking the share button, or simply copying the link into a Facebook comment box, it gets rerouted to "IANA — Example domains". I even had a friend in America try it, with the same result. I tried a few other links on the website & they all seem fine, so it may be just mine that's been hijacked. Anyone else had a similar experience? Should I report it to Facebook too?

Del seems to have fixed it, by simply renaming the link, which is really odd.
Thanks Del.

I hope this is the right place, but I've been trying for some time to post a thread about my work under Ask the Authors and Artists. Every time I click "post", I get an error message saying I don't have permission to view this document, and I can't get back onto the forum or even the main site for a while. It can't be a general problem with my membership, as I was able to post an Introduction thread. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi Nyki - I seem to remember some other people were having problems recently accessing/posting on that particular section of the board. I know nothing about the technical side of things (I just post the news on the site, but if it goes wrong I know nothing ) so my advice would be to email Del at webmaster@britishfantasy.org. He'll soon sort it out for you. But he isn't on the forum much so an email might be the quickest way to get this sorted for you.

Thanks. I did try emailing him, but he hasn't answered yet, so I thought I might get a reply here. I'll try again, perhaps.
