Jay & I had gotten a bit behind on graphic novel reviewing, but you'll see those starting to pop up the site with more regularity now  Smiley

Yes, I was just reading the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen one. Someone once suggested to me that I might enjoy those - you're tempting me again now with your review ....  Grin

Wish I'd realised a colour edition of the Girl Genius Omnibus was on the way - the greyscale version I got was really murky. Fun book, my favourite character being the Indian pirate, but not sure about all the Hugos.

If anyone thought it was a good idea, I'd be up for putting the reviews from the website together in an ebook publication, say for free download from the BFS website. We could do it each quarter along the lines of the old Prism, scooping up all the reviews every three months. If we did, we could perhaps call it Bookshelf, like the old BFS mag.

Had a quick go at this idea this week, to see if it was practical, putting all the website reviews from January to March into a nice little mag - BFS Review Thingy #1, just for my own private use!

It turned out quite nicely, and wasn't too much work. A bit fiddly in places, but not prohibitively so. No one here seemed terribly enthusiastic, but if the BFS did fancy putting it up on the site or something like that I could tidy it up a bit for proper release.

I've emailed Lee to see if he's interested - no worries if not.

Excellent, thanks!

Like I've said to Lee, it wouldn't involve the current team in any extra work and I wouldn't need to get involved with the current reviews process at all, which is working fine as it is. I'd be a compiler, really, rather than an editor.

I'd just quietly copy whatever new reviews were already up on the site every few months and typeset an ebook from them for the BFS to distribute however you think best - free to everyone online, emailed just to members like the journal, whatever you wanted.

It would give the BFS an extra publication for very little extra work. On the other hand, some BFS members might not be keen on us having any ebook-only publications.

Well, the reviews would be available on the website anyway, so it's just another way to read them.

I think it sounds like a very good idea.

If someone does collect all reviews into a single publication, please make it available both as an eBook and via POD. Ta.

I'm tempted to say, if you demand it, then you go print it.  Grin

Huh? what do you mean Huh?

Surely if someone collects and formats all the reviews into a single publication that pub should be made available via Lulu or similar for both a print version as well as an eBook.

And to be honest, I don't "demand" it!

It was a joke. POD... Print On Demand.
Not being a publisher, or having any experience of how POD works, I was jokingly questioning if there would be enough interest in a print copy to make even Lulu, or createspace viable.
