Now, I'm told on good authority that this is allowed on here so I don't want anyone chucking rotten fruit at me for doing this.  My name is Tim Jeffreys and I'm a writer and have self published three collections of short stories and one novel to date, as well as a number of audio books of short stories.  I also put together a little magazine called The Dark Lane Quarterly Collaborative, which is mainly a forum for me and some writer/artist friends but is also open to submissions www.darklane.webs.com.

My books are available from me at my website www.timjeffreyswriter.webs.com.  I always find it hard to describe my stories, as I tend to throw all sorts of things into the mix, but I suppose they are mainly horror.  I like to think of my books as being a bit like an album by The Cure, where one song is about being eaten by a giant spider, another is a love song, and another is about going out on the town (or something like that, you get the idea).

I recently published my latest collection of stories called 'The Haunted Grove' - which I am, foolishly or otherwise, very proud of.  It contains my favourite of my stories which is called 'Three Winters'.  It was my attempt to capture some of the snowed up lonely winter feeling in one of my favourite books - 'Moominland Midwinter'.  There the similarity with Moomintroll's escapades ends, I'm afraid, as it is rather a saucy tale of a teenage boy obsessing over his neighbour's wife in a small town somewhere in the future and on another planet somewhere possibly (see what I mean about the mixed genres).  Anyway, it's available on Kindle from Amazon for less than a quid at the moment as I'm trying to drum up some reviews!  Oh, and please don't pull me up on spelling mistakes in this post as I type quick and have a very good copy editor called Jeremy who sorts all that stuff out for me normally!

Tim, I'm sure to buy THE HAUNTED GROVE soon and hopefully real-time review it. Thanks for coming on here to remind me (and others, I hope) that I've been harbouring a need to read your work for some while.

Funny you should say that, Des, as I've been meaning to read your stuff for some time now!

Hey, Tim, glad you made it in here at last!  Wink

Just to say that I spotted Tim's work a little while ago and have been trying to spread the word about it ever since. I don't want to embarrass him, but I reckon he's an undiscovered genius as far as short weird stories are concerned. Although not so much "undiscovered" nowadays as he's getting more stories published in 'zines, anthologies, etc.

Tim - is The Haunted Grove available in any other format besides Kindle? Only I'm a bit of an old dinosaur and I prefer paper books or audio books. Would love to read this as this is one of yours I haven't got yet!

Thanks, Caroline. Genius might be heightening people's expectations a bit.  I like to think my stuff is good for a bit of escapism.

The Haunted Grove is available from my website in paperback - a bargain or daylight robbery at £8.99 depending on your point of view!

Hi again Tim - just went to your website to buy a paperback copy of your new collection - but there isn't a PayPal purchase button on there. Or is it just me not looking in the right place?  Undecided

Hi again Tim - just went to your website to buy a paperback copy of your new collection -

I wouldn't advise reading my promised real-time review of THE HAUNTED GROVE (here: http://nullimmortalis.wordpress.com/2012/02/27/the-haunted-grove-tim-jeffreys/) before reading the book because it's the sort of book, I anticipate, that might easily encourage inadvertent review spoilers, however much the reviewer guards against them!

Oops - you're absolutely right, Caroline.  I forgot to add the Paypal button!  No wonder I haven't sold any copies!  I've now added the button should you be kind enough to go back and have another go.

Des - I'm honoured that you've chosen to real time review my book, and very glad that you appear to be enjoying it!

cheers

I couldn't resist taking a little peek at the start of Des' review - just to see whether you were enjoying it, Des. May I quote a little bit?

"I’ve never before encountered a new author (new to me, in any event) whose work .... grabs me so significantly from page one."

That was precisely what happened to me too, when I first read Tim's work! Glad you're enjoying it too!

Right, I'm off to get a copy ...

A short story I wrote called 'The Lucky Penny' will appear in an anthology from Keyelle Press.  The book called 'Night Terrors' will be released on Friday 13th April.

I'm going to be releasing a new book of short stories very soon.  17 brand new stories and 1  extended version of 'Bones in the Meadow' as it appeared in the Horror Zine anthology 'What Fears Become'.  I've no idea how I managed to write these stories in between my daughter's birth and her 1st birthday, but most of them have been published in or accepted for anthologies and small press magazines already so atleast I know the quality hasn't slipped despite all the lost sleep!
Here is the cover as a teaser for anyone who might be interested.

Tim, great cover art, good luck with sales. Suppose I'd better read some of your stuff too.
