Hello,

I was a BFS member for ten years during the 80s/90s, first under my pen name "Gilles Bergal" then under my own name "Gilbert Gallerne" which is also the one I use now for my writings. Some of you will certainly remember me  : I was one from the "french desk" in the raffles, always carrying my camera.

I took a lot of pictures during these years, some of them are on my site http://www.gilbert-gallerne.com  ; a selection was even recently published as a hardcover under the title "Writers from beyond".

I abandoned fantasy and horror to write mainstream (??) thrillers, with which I got some success here in France. But last year I heard about the convention in Brighton and I came back.

And guess  what  ? I think I'll try my hand again at dark fantasy.

Anyway, it was a great pleasure to be back and to meet again with some friends I hadn’t seen for ten years (Hi, Stephen, Peter, Jo...) and I am now here to stay. See you at the next Con (with my camera, of course).

Thanks Stephen,

I am really glad. It was a pleasure to meet again all these people and to find the special atmosphere of fantasycon.

Yes, I missed it last year but I'm looking forward to this one.

Nice to see those photos. That 1986 Fantasycon was either the first, or the second that I attended. I hadn't realised it was quite that long ago. I've been telling people that I first attended in the early 90s, but I was certainly at that one.

Opposite problem here : I was sure I attended every fantasycon between 85 and 98, but I don't find the pictures for some years, and in the book published last con I don't find my name on these years, and I am sure I never went to some places where they were held ! Memory is a tricky business.
