Ramsey Campbell first confirmed GoH at the Stoker Awards 2013Comments Off The Horror Writers Association has announced BFS President Ramsey Campbell as their first Guest of Honour for the Bram Stoker Awards Weekend 2013. The event will be held in New Orleans from 13 – 16 June 2013. Ramsey – who is a HWA Lifetime Achievement Award winner - will be participating in all aspects of the convention, including an in-depth interview, panel discussions, a mass signing, and presenting during the Bram Stoker Awards Banquet. HWA to host joint World Horror Convention / Stoker Awards WeekendComments Off The World Horror Convention 2013 will be hosted by the Horror Writers Association, and will incorporate the Bram Stoker Awards. The event will be held in New Orleans from 13 – 16 June 2013. The event is billed as the Bram Stoker Awards Weekend incorporating World Horror Convention 2013, and it has its website HERE. The convention will be held at the historic Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Membership sales will begin in the second half of 2012, as will voting for the WHC Grandmaster Award. Guests of Honour will be announced in due course. Horror author Michael Louis Calvillo dies aged 37Comments Off SFScope announces the death of horror author Michael Louis Calvillo on 30 April 2012 following his battle with cancer. He was 37. A Bram Stoker finalist twice, with his 2007 novel I Will Rise and this year with his novella 7 Brains, his other books include Death & Desires in the Age of Women, Blood & Gristle, Bleed for You, and Blood Hunter. His final novel, Lambs, is scheduled to be published by Dark Fuse shortly. A tribute to him is featured on the Dark Fuse website. |

BFS members on Stoker Awards shortlistComments Off BFS members Allyson Bird (Isis Unbound) and Frazer Lee (The Lamplighters) have both had their debut novels shortlisted for the Stoker’s First Novel award. Preliminary Ballot announced for StokersComments Off The Horror Writers Association has announced the longlisted works for its Preliminary Ballot for the 2011 Bram Stoker Award. Authors with longlisted work include Stephen King, Joe Hill, Reggie Oliver, Allyson Bird, Alan Moore, Peter Straub, Robert Shearman, Caitlin R. Kiernan, John Ajvide Lindqvist, Christopher Fowler, Kaaron Warren and Lisa Morton. Following the Preliminary Ballot, a Final Ballot will be held to arrive at the nominees for the Award.
